Experts who examined the salmon killer whale diet

Chinook Salmon are the most prized big catch in the Pacific coast to fishermen on either side of the border of the Canada-us, but they soon may have to share the gift of the scientific panel if link chinook and the survival of the endangered Southern resident killer whales.

A Panel of independent, cross-border had just completed the first of three workshops to see a study linking the abundance of chinook and the welfare of the killer whales are rare.

There is great interest from sports, commercial and First Nations fishermen in the recommendations because of the implications on Fishing profitable, said panel member Andrew Trites.

"Everybody's watching it very closely," said Trites, Director of the Marine Mammal Research at the University of B.C. Fisheries Centre.
